David Rocheleau Ph.D., P.E.

Biography

David Rocheleau is an Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Carolina where he has taught for over 30 years. Originally from Vermont, he received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Vermont, then worked for several years in the oil fields of West Texas, before returning to school to complete his M.S. at the University of Illinois—Urbana-Champaign. He then worked as a CAD software engineer for Computervision in Bedford Massachusetts before returning to school for his Ph.D. at the University of Florida. He also holds an MBA from the University of South Carolina.

While at the University of South Carolina he took an extended sabbatical to become VP of Product Development and Intellectual Property at TRC, a pharmaceutical packaging company in Columbia, SC. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in South Carolina and performs technical consulting in Forensic Engineering, Failure Analysis, Pharmaceutical Packaging Design and has served as a Subject Matter Expert. He holds 12 U.S. patents and multiple international patents associated with commercial products he has developed.
