Pro/ENGINEER Tutorials (Roger Toogood) is
proving to be a very valuable assist in my BAE202 course. The
students have no prior CAD experience and no prior training in
engineering graphics. The labs with the course consist of two
110 minute periods per week. In the first 8 weeks of the course
the students are working their way through the tutorials and the
book is turning out to be very effective in teaching the fundamentals
of 3D solids modeling and Pro/ENGINEER. The students are able
to work at their own paces and this takes a big load off the instructor.
The book is much more convenient than on-line tutorials which
require the juggling of browser and Pro/E windows in order to
follow them. Also the book allows the students to study the tutorial
session ahead of logging in.
The book is concise and yet gives a rather
thorough introduction to the fundamentals of part creation, the
making of engineering drawings, and assembly operations with Pro/E.
This permits the instructor to use lectures for coverage on engineering
graphics fundamentals, the design process etc. without having
to devote class time to the details of Pro/E.
I recommend this book for anyone interested
in getting a good start with Pro/E on their own...it is an excellent
tutor.
