eBooks
- What eBook platforms do you support?
You can now buy many of our books in eBook format through the Google eBookstore.
With so many devices and vendors offering support for eBooks you might be wondering why we chose to publish our books as eBooks with Google Books. Most of our books are full of pictures and graphics that are an integral part of the book. In addition to this, many of our books require a fixed layout to accurately convey the intended content, and without these the book can become difficult to understand and read. While eBook readers like the Kindle are great for novels and other books; they do not accurately reproduce our books as they are intended to be read. Usually the eBooks offered by Google are very close, if not identical, to the original layout and appearance.
Not only are Google eBooks able to reproduce our books more accurately it is also supported on most computers, smart phones, tablets and devices with an internet connection. Google eBooks can also sync your reading across all these devices so you can always pick up where you left off.
eBook versions of our books may sometimes appear different than the printed version. Usually, the ebooks offered by Google are very close to the original layout and appearance. We encourage you to preview a sample of these ebooks on your preferred device before purchasing them.
You can learn more about Google eBooks by visiting the Google eBookstore website.

Problems Downloading Resources
If you experience problems while downloading instructor resource files, such as the download stops before finishing, it may be the result of un unstable internet connection, too much internet traffic through your connection or the use of an outdated web browser.
If you are using a WI-FI connection, check to make sure you are within range, that the signal strength is good and that the connection is persistent. Also, check to make sure you do not have any other bandwidth intensive programs or web pages open. This includes streaming videos, streaming audio, video conferencing, online gaming or other large downloads. Close anything that isn't necessary. Finally, check to make you are using the newest version of your web browser and all updates have been applied. We recommend using Google Chrome or FireFox.

- Students may download Autodesk software for free from http://students.autodesk.com. All you need is a student email address.
- Software is only available when packaged with a book. We do not sell the software alone.

- SolidWorks
SolidWorks 2012 and newer
Up until this year the Student Design Kit (SDK) was included with each SolidWorks textbook from SDC Publications. However, the SDK Program has been terminated by SolidWorks Corporation.
Students will now have access to free copies of SolidWorks through a different mechanism. When a school purchases its SolidWorks license a number of free licenses are available for students. In order to determine how many free licenses are available for students, instructors need to contact SolidWorks directly.
The contact person at SolidWorks is Chris Morse. Her telephone number is (781) 810-5443. Her email address is christine.morse@3ds.com. She will provide software license codes and work with you to make sure that you have enough licenses for every student.
- Creo
Creo 1.0 and 2.0
Beginning March 1, 2012 each copy of our Creo books will come bundled with the Creo Schools Edition software. This software has a one year term license and includes both Creo Parametric and Creo Simulate.
We have two software options to choose from. The first option is free. With this option each book will include a license card that allows students to download their own copy of Creo. Each card has a unique access code and is included at no additional cost.
The second option bundles each book with a disc containing the same software and licensing terms as the free option. This option, however, provides more convenience and does not require a download. This option increases the price of each book by $25 and is sold under a different ISBN.
Please Note: Both software options are available exclusively for educational use when ordered by a school bookstore or department directly from SDC Publications. Individual sales to students are not permitted. Used copies of this book and those sold by other vendors will not include this software.
- Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 5.0
- This software is available for educational use only when ordered through a school bookstore or department and bundled with a textbook. We do not offer the software alone.
- The Pro/Engineer Wildfire 5.0 Student Edition software has a perpetual license.
- If you have questions about installing the software refer to the instruction guide located on the installation DVD. If you continue to experience problems contact student@ptc.com.
- Files created in the student version cannot be opened by the commercial version. However, files created with the commercial version can be opened in the student version.
